Distressed Chevron Flooring with 70mm stripping finished in a hard wax oil – colour Double Espresso. The Chevrons have been hand distressed to emulate a century of use in a Victorian home. The result is a faithful replication of traditional-aged oak. These Chevrons have the edges scraped and random indents.
The engineered construction enables the flooring to be fitted quickly and easily. The chevrons can be bonded to a suitable sub-floor using a flexible adhesive. Alternatively, provided the sub-floor is completely level it can also be installed floating. That is to say with the tongue and grooves bonded together with a PVA adhesive. The chevron floor then simply lays over a firm rubber and fibre underlay.
Although the chevrons are made in individual blocks that tongue and groove together, an attractive and traditional alternative is to use a 70mm width strip between each row in a matching finish. This method will enable an installer to deliver a high-quality finish even for the most demanding clients. In addition, it will give greater emphasis to the width of the room.
For through room installations it is vital to balance the runs of the chevron to the best visual effect. For example, in a hallway
where both sides are immediately visible. If a seamless finish has been specified through door openings, care should be taken that 60mm is regarded as a minimum width of a final run. Using matching 70mm stripping across doorways and into reveals will make the installation more professional looking than having thin final runs.
